Many people are still not aware of the environmental impact of human and economic activities.
Commercial organisations are primarily interested in maximising profits and rewarding their shareholders with a return on their investments. However, shareholders these days would be happy to make an investment in thos ecompanies that have started to follow CSR principles, demonstrating business ethics and corporate governance. The responsibilities for Consumers could include micro-issues such as eco-friendly light bulbs, or recycling newspapers. There is a relationship between CSR and the Ethical Consumer. Being an Ethical Consumer means being aware of the commercial organisations that demonstrate CSR and also being concerned about environment sustainability, animal welfare and social justice.
