Malaysian Recipes - Sotong Masak Jawa - Javanese Squid

  • 1 lb. Sotong
  • 5 Bawang Merah
  • 2 pieces Bawang Putih
  • 1 Camca Ketumbar
  • 1/2 Camca Teh Lada Hitam
  • 2 kuntum bunga Cengkih
  • 1/2 Camca teh jintan manis
  • 1/2 Camca teh jintan putih
  • 1 sudu besar minyak masak
  • dan sedikit Halia serbuk kunyit, garam.

  • 1 lb. small (3 inches) Squid
  • 5 Shallots
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 2 Whole Cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fennel Seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon White Cumin
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking Oil
  • some ginger root, tumeric powder and salt to taste.

    Semua bahan-bahan ditumbuk.
    Sotong-sotong dicabut kepalanya dan di cuci hingga bersih.
    Setelah siap sotong-sotong dan bahan yang ditumbuk tadi di gaul rata.
    Setelah digaul, kepala sotong tadi dimasukkan kembali ke dalam.
    Sotong-sotong yang sudah di gaul tadi.
    Kemudian baru di tumis sehinggi kering airnya.
    Biarkan masak selama lebih kurang 30 minit kemudian baru diangkat.

    Grind and mix all the ingredients together.
    Separate the top from the bottom of each small Squid by pulling them apart.
    Clean the pieces of Squid well.
    Stuff the bottom part of each Squid with the top part.
    Spread the mixed ingredients on the outside of the pieces of Squid.
    Put 1 tablespoon of Oil into a Wok or shallow frying-pan and heat on a medium flame.
    Cook the Squid in the pan for about 30 minutes until the Oil, and the Water from the Squid are dry.

    Serve with rice (and please let me know how it turns out !!!)
